MANILA – Expect the southwest monsoon to drench parts of the country as it affects Luzon and the Visayas on Saturday.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers or thunderstorms to the Ilocos region, Zambales, Benguet, Batanes, and the Babuyan Islands.
Partly cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, also due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms.
The weather bureau also noted that two tropical storms have been spotted outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) – “Mirinae” (formerly Gorio), located 1,725 km. east-northeast of extreme Northern Luzon, and “Lupit”, located 535 km. north-northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.
“Mirinae” has maximum sustained winds of 75 kph and gustiness of up to 90 kph, and is moving east-northeastward at 30 kph.
Meanwhile, “Lupit” has maximum sustained winds of 65 kph and gustiness of up to 80 kph, and is “slowly” moving east-northeastward.
The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 27°C to 32°C; Baguio City, 17°C to 20°C; Legazpi City, 27°C to 33°C; Metro Cebu, 26°C to 34°C; Cagayan de Oro City, 24°C to 34°C; and Metro Davao, 25°C to 33°C. (PNA)
