In a historic decision, the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Angeles City unanimously approved Resolution No. 11249, S-2024 (PR-2563-04-24), officially designating Barangay Lourdes North West (LNW) as the Lenten Capital of Angeles City.
This resolution honors LNW for its exceptional commitment to preserving the sanctity and significance of the Lenten season, notably through its annual street dramatization of the “Siete Palabras” on Good Friday, skillfully directed by Jayson Pabalan.
Under the leadership of punong barangay Nicanor Soriano, kagawads Marvin
Enriquez, Reynaldo Jun Pineda Jr., Percival Canlas, Arsenia David, Joshua Mendoza, Arlene Maniago, Lionel Bernardo, and SK Chairman Prince Bernard Cruz and council.
LNW consistently delivers captivating musical performances that vividly portray the passion and death of Jesus Christ, brilliantly brought to life by artist Jhay Manlapaz.
The decision to confer this distinction upon LNW follows its recent outstanding rendition of the “Siete Palabras,” captivating the hearts of thousands of Catholic devotees and spectators, who lauded the production’s excellence and emotional depth.
Sponsored by Councilors Arvin Pogs Suller, Dan Lacson, Raco Del Rosario, Edu Pamintuan, Jr., Doc Alfie Bonifacio, Cris Cortez, Dan Nacu, and Richard DC Gaza, Jr., the resolution also received unanimous support from Councilors JC Aguas, Jay Sangil, Niknok Bañola, and Alex Indiongco.
The declaration, made during Regular Session No.11 on April 2, 2024, was presided over by City Vice Mayor and Presiding Officer, Vicky Vega-Cabigting, and attested by SP Secretary Atty. Mark Philip Lumboy.
With this prestigious designation, LNW further cements its status as a beacon of Lenten observance and cultural heritage in Angeles City, contributing significantly to the city’s rich cultural tapestry.
