The Social Security System (SSS) delegation, led by Chairman Amado D. Valdez, presents the agency’s proposal to grant the P2,000 across-the-board pension (ATBP) increase during the hearing of the House Committee on Government Enterprises and Privatization held at the Batasang Pambansa Complex recently. SSS proposes to grant an initial P1,000 ATBP increase in 2017 and another P1,000 in 2022 or earlier, provided that legislation will provide SSS support in terms of funding the additional benefits. Bottom photo shows Valdez (seated, center) elaborate on the details of the SSS proposal before the members of Congress who attended the hearing. The SSS proposal aims to strike a balance between providing immediate financial assistance to more than two million pensioners while preserving the long-term viability of the fund for the benefit of currently contributing members.
