Work at Camp Aguinaldo Station signals renewed progress on the Metro Manila Subway Project, the Philippines’ first underground rail system. The 33.1-kilometer line will stretch from Valenzuela to Parañaque, with 17 stations aiming to move over 519,000 passengers daily. Funded through a ¥104.53-billion JICA loan, the subway promises to cut Quezon City–NAIA travel to just 35 minutes. Set for full operations by 2029, it’s a long-overdue fix to Metro Manila’s traffic nightmare — and a rare glimmer of hope beneath a city stuck in gridlock. For now, the digging continues.
