CAMILING, Tarlac — Tarlac Agricultural University (TAU) signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region 3 for partnership in its newly established Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BS DevComm) Program.
Under the agreement, PIA will provide an avenue for the BS DevComm students to showcase knowledge and skills and to familiarize them about the communication processes that are conducted on television, radio, print and online platforms.
For its part, TAU pledges participation and support on national advocacy activities and bringing the services of the government to the community especially to the students.
“We thank the PIA for the continuing trust to TAU and for the help and assistance for the development of our newly opened DevComm program,” TAU President Dr. Max P. Guillermo said.
“Through this cooperation with technical assistance in the field of development communication, we hope to bring various skills and knowledge to the students for them to become a well-equipped development communicator,” he added.
For his part, PIA Assistant Regional Director Carlo Lorenzo Datu thanked TAU for its support in the various national and regional campaigns of the agency. PIA has an existing Memorandum of Understanding with TAU on the promotion of the state university’s various programs and projects.
“We can commit in this new DevComm partnership our on-air, online and on-ground platforms where the students can hone their craft,” Datu said.
As a start, PIA and TAU DevComm Department will be holding a Digital Communications Workshop focused on Social Media, Mobile Photography, Freedom of Information, and Responsible Sharing of Information.
