MILAN, Italy—As part of its commemoration of the 127th anniversary of the declaration of Philippine Independence, the Philippine Consulate General in Milan hosted the culinary event “Mekeni, Mangan Tamu: A Taste of Pampanga in Milan” on June 12 at the Kalayaan Hall.

The first of a three-part series, the event featured two of Pampanga’s top chefs—Manuela Cherry Tan and Leonard Vincent Garcia—who showcased signature Kapampangan dishes such as sisig, arobu, kare-kare, and nasing marangle to an international audience.
The event highlighted Pampanga’s rich culinary heritage, reinforcing its reputation as the Philippines’ culinary capital.
“Mekeni, Mangan Tamu” was made possible through the support of Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, Second District Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, business leader Rene Romero, and the Department of Tourism Region III led by Director Richard Daenos.

The series is part of a broader cultural diplomacy effort to promote Filipino cuisine and heritage in Europe.
