A teacher from Adelle Grace Montessori School in Sta. Ana town returned a black wallet containing voter’s ID, prestige, caritas and credit cards and at least P11,620 to its rightful owner.
Teacher Regina Soliman Talao, a native of Barangay Paralaya, Candaba found the wallet of Leah Altamira, a resident of Pulilan, Bulacan and an employee of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Quezon City at a restroom inside a shopping center in this city.
Instead of keeping the wallet, Talao sought the help of Provincial Information Officer Joel Mapiles in finding the owner through social media.
“The wallet has the identification cards of the owner but no contact number included,” Talao said.
Talao added that her parents taught her not to take things that are not hers.
“Our parents taught us good manners and it is my belief that God is always looking at us,” Talao explained.
Through a social media post of Mapiles and Rose Guiao, a principal from Academia De Pulilan, the owner of the wallet was able to contact the teacher.
“My mother told me about a social media post. Her friend first saw the post and informed us about it,” Altamira said.
During the radio program ‘Pampanga Kaluguran da ka’ aired over RW 95.1 FM, Talao met and personally handed the wallet to Altamira.
Altamira was grateful for the teacher’s honesty as the latter took time to find and return her wallet.
Mapiles said all teachers and Filipinos should emulate Teacher Talao’s good example to make a change.
