TARLAC, Philippines – A temporary brush dam was recently constructed at Tanggal Baybayaoas along the Camiling River in Brgy. Baybayaoas, Mayantoc, to ensure a steady water supply for farmers during the dry season.
The structure diverts water into creeks feeding Lateral P-16 and Lateral A-10 of the NIA-Camiling River Irrigation System (CAMRIS), serving as a crucial irrigation source. It benefits three Irrigators’ Associations: CAM. EAST FIA, portions of CASUR FIA, and SINBAMA FIA, providing water for around 400 hectares of farmland and supporting 600 farmer-beneficiaries.
To complete the project, NIA Tarlac IMO deployed a Zoomlion crawler backhoe, a Volvo wheel excavator, and two dump trucks.
As water scarcity remains a challenge during the dry months, the brush dam plays a key role in sustaining agricultural productivity in the region. NIA continues to implement solutions to support local farmers and ensure efficient irrigation management.
