CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) continues to strengthen its technical-vocational education and training (TVET) programs by launching new courses that are aligned with the needs of the industries.
This initiative aims to expand access to training and boost job-readiness for trainees across Central Luzon.
TESDA Regional Director Baron Jose Lagran disclosed that as of May 2025, the agency has registered a total of 2,403 training programs. Of these, 2,109 are aligned with national training regulations.
An additional 197 are based on competency standards while 97 are diploma programs that allow students to pursue higher education.
“TESDA ensures that its programs are aligned with the changing needs of industries. We are not just training learners. We are preparing them for employment,” Lagran stressed.
To further align with industry needs, TESDA has introduced new training courses including Aircraft Cleaning and Disinfecting Level II, Airport Operations Level II, Kapampangan Heritage Cooking Level II, Pharmaceutical Machine Operation Level II, and Underwater Cleaning and Propeller Polishing Level II.
These programs are tailored to address emerging skill demands in aviation, culinary heritage, pharmaceuticals, and maritime support sectors.
Lagran also cited the importance of Republic Act No. 11962, otherwise known as the Enterprise-Based Education Training Law, which allows training to be conducted directly within the companies and industries.
“This law supports our goal of making training more relevant and employment-focused. The end goal is to lead every graduate to a job,” he added.
To fulfill its mandate of uplifting the lives of Filipinos through skills training and job readiness, TESDA Central Luzon continues to partner with government and private sectors in the implementation of its training programs.
It also conducts continued auditing and aligns its processes with the International Organization for Standardization standards.
