CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – A suspected top-ranking New People’s Army rebel was captured by government security forces during a raid at Sitio Sunshine, Barangay San Juan, Samal, Bataan late Thursday afternoon, authorities here announced.
Senior Supt. Marcelo Dayag, director, Bataan Police Provincial Office (BPPO), identified the suspect as Juanito Deldoc Carabeo, 62, alias Toktok, active member of the outlawed Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP-NPA) and Assistant Secretary of the Central Luzon Regional Committee (CLRC).
Dayag said Carabeo is also a staff of the CPP-NPA Regional Medical Unit and occupied the top spot in the list of most wanted persons throughout the region.
In his report to Chief Supt. Amador Corpuz, director, Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), Dayag said the arrest of Carabeo was a joint manhunt operations by the intelligence community and the Armed Forces stationed in the locality.
Dayag however did not mention Carabeo’s significant operations and involvement against the government.
Carabeo has standing warrants of arrest for offenses ranging from murder, illegal possession of firearms and rebellion. He did not resist arrest.
Dayag said the suspect underwent documentation process and was subjected to tactical interrogation while under the custody of the Samal police station.
The suspect will be turned over to the court before his turn over to the Provincial Jail of Bataan.
