‘Tulong Bulakenyo Para sa Marawi’

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan – Six trucks containing 4,000 boxes of foodstuff left the grounds of the Bulacan Sports Complex in Bgy. Sta. Isabel here on their way to the headquarters of the Office of Civil Defense as the first phase of the “Tulong Bulakenyo Para sa Marawi” on Friday afternoon.

Gov. Wilhelmino M. Sy-Alvarado and Provincial Administrator Eugenio Payongayong also handed a check worth P4 million to OCD—III regional director Edgardo J. Ollet as part of the P8 million aid of the provincial government to the people of the war-torn Marawi City in Mindanao.

Alvarado said that when war broke out after the Maute group, who claimed to be with the international terror group ISIS occupied the Islamic city of Marawi, the provincial government started a fund raising drive.

“ This our own way of giving back. Every time calamities hit our province, other provinces also sent us help and aids,” Alvarado said.

Ollet said that OCD Director Josie Timoteo, chief of operations Task Force Marawi-OCD, is now in Iliogan City and will supervise the distribution of the donations from Bulacan.

“This is a big help in our effort to help the people of Marawi, “{} Ollet said.

Ollet thanked Alvarado and the people of Bulacan for their concern and kindness for the people of Marawi who are still suffering and bearing the brunnt of the war. —EMIL G. GAMOS
