Two ex-rebels surrender as PRO3 tightens grip

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga – Two former communist rebels surrendered to authorities in Tarlac on January 31, as the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) ramped up its anti-insurgency efforts in Central Luzon.

Alias “Ka Ganneng,” 51, a former member of Komite sa Larangang Gerilya 1 (KLG1), turned himself in at the 304th Mobile Company headquarters in Mayantoc, Tarlac. He surrendered a homemade .22 Magnum firearm, a magazine with seven rounds, and an MK2 hand grenade.

Meanwhile, alias “Ka Junnie,” 52, a former member of KLG-TARZAM under the late Neptali Santos, yielded at the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company headquarters in Camiling, Tarlac. He surrendered a .22 long firearm, which he claimed was issued by his former commander.

PRO3 Regional Director Brigadier General Jean Fajardo said these surrenders highlight the success of intensified security operations and growing trust in law enforcement.

“Every surrender is a step toward peace. We welcome them back and assure them of our full support,” Fajardo said.

Authorities continue to urge active rebels to surrender, promising assistance in reintegrating them into society as part of the government’s peace efforts.
