ARAYAT – To lower the operating cost of farmers, Vice Gov. Dennis “Delta” is eyeing the establishment of an environmental-friendly irrigation system in every city and town of the province.
“This is my dream, for you, farmers, to invest in a viable long term solution that will help you in terms of adequate supply of water,” he furthered.
He made the statement as he, Department of Agriculture (DA) Undersecretary Evelyn Laviña, and DA Regional Director Engr. Crispulo Bautista Jr., inspected the newly-installed Wind Pump Irrigation in this town, that will soon be operational.
The farmers here, with Mayor Bon Alejandrino, also conducted a “Peanut Field Day and Harvest Festival” in Brgy. Matamo, Sta. Lucia of this town.
It was attended by Paroba Livelihood Business and Agriculture Association, which has 64 members of as of March 2019.
The Vice Governor thanked President Rodrigo Duterte and DA for implementing programs that will help the farmers.
In 2018, the DA provided assorted lowland vegetable seeds for farmers, good for 20 hectares; 4 kilograms of onion seeds with fertilizers, good for four hectares; and 1 hauling truck.
Vice Gov. Pineda also stressed that the Provincial Government will continue to assist them, as agricultural programs for farmers will be maintained to contribute to rice and crop sufficiency not just in the province but also in the country.
Meanwhile, Mayor Alejandrino reiterated that the Capitol and his Local Government Unit (LGU) will help hand-in-hand in the development of agriculture of the province.
According to Office of the Provincial Agriculture (OPA) Head Edilberto Salenga, Gov. Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda, since 2010, has allotted P9.6 million for farm machineries and P8.2 million for backhoe loaders. —
