Young people will not be spared with the coronavirus disease and must observe inhibitory measures to not spread it to older and more vulnerable people, the World Health Organization said.
“Today I have a message for young people: You are not invincible, this virus could put you in hospital for weeks or even kill you. Even if you don’t get sick the choices you make about where you go could be the difference between life and death for someone else,” WHO Director-GeneralTedros Adhanm Ghebreyesus told via online press conference.
In a report released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 40% of patients were age 20 to 54 but the risk of dying is higher among older people.
In the Philippines, the youngest COVID-19 patient is a 13-year old girl from Quezon City, Manila. She was reported exhibiting symptoms on March 4 and was confirmed positive on March 15.
