In response to the escalating COVID-19 cases in the country, the Widus Foundation Incorporation (WFI) and Clark Development Corporation (CDC) launched the Sagip Kapampangan and CLARK CARES: Defining Precautions. Unifying Solutions, a disaster relief assistance project.
Through this initiative, 16 institutions in the province were given 830 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); 50,000 pieces of disposable gloves; 5,000 washable face masks with micro fiber filter; 1,000 pairs of shoe cover; 1,000 pieces of face shield; 39 units of thermal gun; 1,000 pieces of eye protector glass; 2,000 pieces of head cap or hairnet; and 5 sets of laryngoscope.
This is in partnership with Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), Clark Freeport, Widus Hotel and Casino, Provincial Government of Pampanga and Clark CSR Association Incorporation (CCAI).
“Most of the donations from the private sectors in Pampanga were focused on JBL and other hospitals. WFI believes we need also to assist the District and Provincial Hospitals of Pampanga,” Ronnel Galimlim, WFI Manager, said.
All of the district and provincial hospitals in Pampanga are among the beneficiaries of the PPEs.
WFI believes that we need to protect our front liners. They are essential in the fight against COVID-19, Galimlim says.
For his part, Atty. Charlie Chua, Provincial Government of Pampanga Administrator, thanked the continued support of the foundation with the Provincial Government’s efforts to fight against COVID-19.
In his letter addressed to Galimlim, he says that “the donation of various PPEs for the use of our health workers in our 11 Provincial and District Hospitals will indeed not only go a long way in protecting them as they provide the necessary care and treatment for our Cabalen patients, but more so to boost their morale in dealing with the pandemic.”
Apart from this, as of April 7, 1,000 vulnerable and minimum wage earners inside Clark were given food packages.
The CDC identified the beneficiaries for the relief packages and organized volunteers to do the repacking.
Each food package contains five kilos of rice, assorted canned goods, and noodles.
