A 5,500 square meter VIP terminal has opened at the Al Maktoum International Airport on Monday (Dec. 19) catering to private, business and government VIP travelers.
A Maldives-bound Embraer Legacy aircraft carrying 13 passengers was the first recorded flight that used the VIP terminal.
The VIP terminal has already accommodated more than 1,200 flights. The number of flights is expected to increase to 4,000 aircraft movements in 2017.
The VIP terminal is considered the “largest of its kind in the world,” hosting two Fixed Base Operators (FBOs), JetEx and Falcon Aviation.
The terminal features a luxury shopping area, cars, watches, real estate, super bikes, and many more items for travelers. The spacious terminal located near the Dubai Aviation City, also includes recreational facilities such as playing pool and restaurants.
The area in the Aviation District where the VIP terminal is located will also become the permanent home of the Dubai Airshow.
The Dubai Aviation City includes Al Maktoum International, and a number of new specialized free zones, focusing on logistics, aviation and cargo.
