TARLAC CITY — Governor Susan Yap urged farmers and agriculturists in Tarlac to go organic and achieve a 100
percent chemical and pesticide-free province.
“Every life is important. Organic cures our soil, environment and us as well. And there is always a market for organic-produced,” Yap said during the 3rd Regional Organic Agriculture Congress.
Yap added that the provincial government is ready to provide augmentation to organic farmers such as vegetable seeds, organic fertilizer and training among others.
“There is a huge market out there not only in Europe but in all other countries. If you want to go export, organic is the way,” Yap stressed.
The holding of the Agri-Congress was based on Republic Act 10068 or Organic Agriculture Act of 2010 that mandates the promotion, propagation, development and implementation of the practice of organic agriculture in the Philippines that will further protect the health of farmers, consumers, and the general public, and save on imported farm inputs. –Trixie Joy B.
