BOTOLAN, Zambales – The Zambales Police Provincial Office recovered subversive documents, ammunition, and explosives in a successful anti-insurgency operation at Mt. Piera, Sitio Dingin, Barangay Old Poonbato in Botolan, Zambales.
The operation was led by the Zambales Provincial Intelligence Unit, with support from the Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit.
Authorities acted on information provided by a former member of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF), who voluntarily disclosed the location of the hidden materials allegedly used for subversive activities.
Recovered items included one improvised explosive device (IED), four rifle grenades, three hand grenades, assorted ammunition, and various subversive documents.
Personnel from the municipal police, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, and regional mobile forces were deployed to secure the site, conduct investigation, and ensure the safety of nearby communities.
Local government units also provided logistical assistance in reaching the remote mountainous area where the items were found.
The operation underscores the continuing efforts of the ZPPO to counter insurgency and uphold peace and order in the province. (CLJD/RGP, PIA Region 3–Zambales)
