Olongapo City now has no COVID case after the last patient of the 12 declared positive cases of COVID-19 was discharged at James L. Gordon Memorial Hospital (JLGMH)  on Friday night.

Mayor Rolen ”Lenj” Paulino Jr. attended the send-off of the patient identified as PHOC #06, a 55-year old female, admitted to JLGMH on April 2 due to difficulty of breathing. She was discharged after the two mandatory confirmatory test results turned negative.

Paulino said it is important to keep in mind that anytime of any day COVID-19 cases may arise.

“Hindi natin alam, baka mamaya biglang may sumulpot dyan na biglang mag positive. Pero sa ngayon ay wala tayong case, this is why I ask all the frontliners mula sa health workers down to barangay to stay vigilant and implement proper health protocol like wearing face mask and social distancing [We never know, maybe someone will pop-up and tested positive, but for now that we don’t have cases,So I ask all frontliners from health workers down to barangay to stay vigilant and implement proper health protocol like wearing facemasks and social distancing] ” Paulino said.

The city executive was grateful to all frontliners and residents of Olongapo whom he dubbed helping him in the battle against COVID-19

“We will try to maintain this, and work to bring back the lives of our kababayan to the New Normal,” Paulino said.

Though Olongapo City is under the General Community Quarantine, strict health measures are still being enforced throughout the city.
