MCC-VXI Global Solutions to pioneer contract education programs

Mabalacat City College (MCC) heightens the need to reduce the skills gap in the community by partnering with industries that are ready to work cooperatively with academic institutions in providing corporate education. Last April 19, MCC warmly welcomed representatives from VXI Global Solutions for the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the first-ever contract education in the Philippines.

MCC College President Michelle Aguilar-Ong expressed her gratitude to VXI Global Solutions for reaching out to the college to offer their training program. In addition, she mentioned that the college is keen on putting up a corporate college that will help the community.

VXI Talent Acquisition Director Erlin Grechyn Avenir articulated that the company is privileged to be the first to initiate the program and that the company is proud to partner with MCC. She emphasized the mutual trust that both MCC and VXI are giving in terms of providing employment opportunities to students and the community. Furthermore, she mentioned that this initiative in Mabalacat City is a good start that could allow the branching out of more workforces for the Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry.

Director IV of CHED IAS Atty. Lily Freida C. Macabangun-Milla, Regional Director of CHEDRO III Dr. Leonida Sigua-Calagui, former Tarlac State University president Dr. Myrna Q. Mallari with CHED International Affairs Staff and Internationalization Officers graced this momentous event.

Atty. Milla extended her gratitude to VXI for collaborating with MCC to introduce this new model. She stressed that the world is changing due to the pandemic. Therefore, education should also change its ways – this initiative is part of the transformation of education.

In addition, present during the signing were VXI Talent Acquisition Director Erlin Grechyn Avenir, Talent Acquisition Associate Director Philipp Anthony Buita, Talent Acquisition Managers Marissa Guevara and Miriam Diana Cabiles, Talent Acquisition Specialist Sylvester Navarro, and VXI Creative Team Representative Shella Bayoguiña.

MCC was represented by Vice President for Finance and Administration Happy Pelayo, Vice President for Global Relations, Opportunities, and Workforce Development Raymond John Vergara, Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs,m Dr. Romeo Erese III, Assistant Vice President for Workforce Development Engr. Joshua Ken Policarpio, Assistant Vice President for Linkages and International Affairs Kevin Aaron Peralta, and Assistant Vice President for Management for Academic Processes and Systems Engr. Erick Jaie David.

Indeed, this historic occasion represents the earnest efforts of MCC and VXI to forge collaborative programs in the realization of contract education not only in Mabalacat City but also in the Philippines. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement sparks the desire of both institutions to empower learners through certificate programs developed for an improved quality of life.

Aside from the MOA Signing, Regional Director of CHEDRO III Leonida Sigua-Calagui was also awarded tokens and a Certificate of Appreciation for her service. Dr. Calagui expressed her felicitations to the key movers behind this initiative. She mentioned that this education model must be shared with other local universities and colleges.
