ABUCAY, Bataan – A 53-year-old driver was killed on Saturday morning in collision along Roman Highway in Barangay Calaylayan here.
In a report from Abucay Police, Police Capt. Jennifer Cruz, chief of police, identified the fatality as Augusto Piñon, 53, a resident of Rodriguez, Rizal.
According to the report, Piñon was the driver of a Hyundai FB 100 van (Conduction Sticker No. MT 3902) who reportedly overtook a vehicle and then swerved to the opposite lane and suddenly hit an Isuzu dump truck (WRY 306) being driven by Louie Quintal, 38, a resident of Culis, Hermosa, Bataan.
The victim died instantly after sustaining serious physical injuries while the dump truck’s driver is now at the custody of Abucay PNP.
Earlier at passed 6a.m. on the same date, 2 persons were injured in another road crash in Samal, Bataan involving four vehicles.
Last April 9, a university teacher was also killed while 5 others were wounded in the same place while they were on board a motorized tricycle that was suddenly hit by two speeding SUVs.
