CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — About 10,000 police are currently manning checkpoints or control points all over the region as the enhanced community quarantine in the entire Luzon took effect midnight of March 17.
This is part of the government’s effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the country.
Police Regional Director PBGen. Rhodel Sermonia said authorities carry thermal scanner guns to check if those who want to enter and exit the boundaries of each province in Central Luzon are showing flu-like symptoms.
Strict implementation of all the directives of President Rodrigo R. Duterte for the entire duration of the enhanced community quarantine is being carried out and failure to abide by the foregoing guidelines and measures shall be subjected to appropriate action, both criminal and administrative, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.
Relative to this, Sermonia urged the public to cooperate with authorities as the police is trying its best in helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.
“It is definitely an inconvenience to all of us but we are doing this for the safety and protection of every one. I have directed our personnel to always uphold the law and respect for human rights must be observed at all times,” he added.
