The agreement will be for the construction of a thermal power plant in Bataan.

The cost of the project according to Chris Takayama, Chief Finance Officer of Korean firm HJGMI, is USD 1 billion.

The project will generate 10,000 to 20,000 jobs during its 3 to 5 years of construction.

During its normal operation it will generate 500 regular workers. The exact location will be finalized several months after this ceremony.

“This is a clean energy source and it will generate 600 megawatts of electricity for the Luzon grid,” Governor Garcia told Bataan newsmen in a news briefing with the firm’s key officials.

A thermal power plant is a power station in which heat energy is converted to electric power. In most of the places in the world the turbine is steam-driven. Water is heated, turns into steam and spins a steam turbine which drives an electrical generator.
