3 weather systems to bring rain showers across PH Thursday

MANILA – Three weather systems affecting the country will continue to dampen most parts of the archipelago Thursday, the weather bureau said.

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the low pressure area (LPA), last tracked over the Sulu Sea and 255 kilometers south-southwest of Puerto Princesa City, would bring cloudy skies and rains across the country.

However, the LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone.

The shear line is also affecting most of the Visayas, bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Both the LPA and the shear line will dampen the Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.

Flash floods or landslides are likely during moderate to heavy rains.

Aurelio said the northeast monsoon or amihan is affecting most of Luzon and will bring light rains over Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, the Bicol Region, the rest of Mimaropa, Aurora, and Quezon.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience isolated light rains, also due to the northeast monsoon.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas will prevail over Luzon and the Visayas.

Strong to gale force winds will be experienced over the western seaboards of northern Luzon, northern and eastern seaboards of northern Luzon, and the eastern seaboards of central and southern Luzon.

PAGASA advised fishing boats and other small sea vessels not to venture into the sea, and larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves.Over Mindanao, winds will be moderate with moderate seas. (PNA)
