4,493 Kapampangans get P27M DOLE, Capitol grants

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Some 4,493 Kapampangans were given at least P27 million worth of salaries, grants, livelihood commodities and equipment during the Monday kick-off of the 446th Aldo Ning Kapampangan.

The distribution was led by Governor Lilia ‘Nanay’ Pineda, Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director Ana Dione.

It was also part of the celebration of the 84th anniversary of DOLE.

Former President, now 2nd District Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, municipal mayors headed by Pampanga Mayors’ League President – Lubao Mayor Mylyn Pineda-Cayabyab and regional directors of partner agencies also graced the event.

Some 2,601 Special Program for Employment of Student (SPES); 1,893 Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para Sa Ating Displaced Workers (TUPAD) and livelihood workforces were among the recipients.

SPES beneficiaries received their salaries amounting to P8, 616.20 each or a total of P22, 410,736 after rendering service in the different departments of the local government.

Sixty Percent (60%) of the salary of each beneficiary or around P5, 169.72 was derived from the provincial government while 40% share or P3,446.48 came from DOLE.

Meanwhile, eleven groups of Bigasan and Tindahan Sa Barangay were given P100,000 each or a total of P1.1 million.

Four groups of Sampaguita growers were given P400,000 while five groups of sewer-beneficiaries were given P 240,000 or a total of P1.2 million worth of materials and a total of P205,000 worth of internet and computer equipment for repair shop of young entrepreneurs of this city.

Supplies and livelihood materials were likewise provided including baking and pastry tools in the amount of P210, 000; pukpok/metal works, P170, 000 and pushcarts for scavengers in the amount of P1, 500,000. Five beneficiaries from 14 towns and one city were given push carts.

The distribution is in line with DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program that aims to provide assistance on livelihood for the working poor and marginalized workers either for individual or by a group. — Ma. Reina Len Luna/PIO
