CAREER ORIENTATION. Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago, in his speech, stresses the importance of career orientation among the youth during the Education Fair on August 16 to 18.

This was realized through the City Public Employment Service Office in partnership with the Department of Education, Department of Labor and Employment and Edukasyon.ph—a non-government organization based in Manila that connects students to education opportunities through an online platform and promotes career awareness among the Filipino youth.

Various schools and universities in the City have also participated in the said fair to provide the students a comprehensive understanding on the different programs and scholarships they offer.

“Aside from the career orientation, we also let the students determine the right school based on their desired courses and the availability of resources,” PESO Manager Donny Sayre said in an interview.

He added that the DepEd also conducted a survey to identify what strands or courses are chosen by majority of the students.

For his part, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago stressed the importance of guiding the youth in choosing their respective career path to reduce job mismatch and unemployment rate in the city.

“Education and employment are our top priorities in the city because we believe that these two play an integral role towards sustainable development. Thus, improve the quality of life of every Fernandino,” Santiago said.
