Police personnel of the Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) tested negative for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), according to a statement posted by ACPO in its Facebook page.
A total of 543 cops and 60 non-uniformed personnel of ACPO underwent swab test or Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test for three days on July 24 to 26 at the ACPO Chapel, Camp Tomas J. Pepito in Barangay Sto. Domingo in the said city.
Swab tests were released on July 28 and yielded negative results. They were also placed under three-day quarantine pending the results of the test.
Handled by the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), the three-day mandatory COVID-19 swab test of all police personnel and support units was initiated by Angeles City Police Director, PCol. Joyce Patrick B. Sangalang.
Sangalang said that he wanted to look after the health and wellness of his policemen, especially those at the forefront against the infectious virus.
He added that ACPO has been strictly implementing health and safety measures set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease (IATF-EID) to stem the spread of the dreaded respiratory disease.
Sangalang said that ACPO will remain steadfast in enforcing the law amidst the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain peace and order in the city and will continue its crackdown on illegal drugs and other forms of criminality.
