658 Tarlac residents given free chest x-ray

TARLAC CITY — A total of 658 residents of three northern towns in Tarlac benefitted from the free chest x-ray of United States Agency for International Development’s TB Platforms Project.

In particular, 212 got the free service in San Clemente, 220 in Mayantoc and 226 in Victoria.

“In partnership with Department of Health and the Municipal Health Offices, it was provided to community members particularly senior citizens as part ouf our TB response amid the COVID-19 pandemic,” USAID TB Platforms Field Operations Area Manager for Central Luzon Rhodora Cruz said.

It specifically aims to strengthen active TB case finding especially among children and early identification of presumptive TB and prompt diagnosis of TB cases.

“We would also like to be able to provide screening tools to the municipalities and cities of Region 3 and to be able to continue screening of presumptive TB through passive, active, intensified, and enhanced case finding subject to mandated physical distancing and strict infection control procedures,” Cruz added.
