927 HS students get SPES salary

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – 927 high school students from different schools in Pampanga received their Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) salaries from the Provincial Government of Pampanga through its Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) and Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The distribution was held yesterday at Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center here.

Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda and Vice-Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda graced the event together with DOLE-3 Director Zenaida Angara-Campita and PESO Officer Luningning Vergara.

Each student received P 9,495 for working for 20 days in various government offices where they earned P 453.68 per day.

Governor Pineda said in her message that the students should also thank the Provincial Board for approving the budget for their SPES activity.

She also added that the students’ salaries are a big help in their studies.

“Your salaries are of big help in your studies. So study hard and never waver for the Provincial Government’s support will continue as long as you do your part,” she said.

Vice-Governor Pineda, who is an advocate of youth empowerment, advised the students to surrender their salaries immediately to their parents and not for other luxuries.

DOLE-3 Director Campita said that among the regions, Central Luzon, particularly Pampanga, received the highest fund allocation by the Department for the implementation of this year’s SPES program.

The Provincial Government allocated a total of 9,495 slots with total funding of P 51,692,300.00 and will complete its year-round SPES implementation this October 2018.

To note, P3,364,490.88, represents the DOLE’s 40 percent share while the remaining P 5,046,736.62 represents the Provincial Government of Pampanga’s 60 percent share.
