98,503 students receive educational assistance in Bulacan

A total of 98,503 Bulakenyo students have been given educational assistance through the “Tulong Pang-edukasyon para sa Kabataang Bulakenyo” program since 2010 to 2017.

At present, another 4,213 Bulakenyo from all the campuses of Bulacan Polytechnic College (BPC) and 33 other private colleges and universities received their scholarship from the  Bulacan  government during the two-day Scholar’s General Assembly held at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium on Thursday and Friday.

Bulacan Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado and Vice Governor Daniel Fernando spearheaded the distribution of certificate, cheques and cash eherein 1,705 students from the eight campuses of BPC including Malolos Main, Bocaue, Obando, Angat, Pandi, San Rafael, City of San Jose del Monte and San Miguel received their ‘Katibayan ng Pagiging Iskolar’; while the other 2,508 students from 33 different schools inside and outside the province took home cheques amounting to P3,000 each.

On the first day of the assembly that was graced by former Pangasinan Congresswoman Gina Perez-de Venecia, Alvarado announced the good news that aside from the free tuition on BPC campuses, half of the miscellaneous fee of the students will be shouldered by the PGB.

“We want to produce skilled and knowledgeable labor force that will be ready to face the challenges of economic development and be able to sustain economic growth that is why we included your education in our seven-point agenda,” the governor said.For his part, Fernando advised the students to finish their studies and value the sacrifices of their parents just to send them to school. 

“No parent wants bad for their children. So try to overcome your studies because it’s not like material things that are missing, our education and wisdom will not be taken or steal,” Fernando said.
