OPM icon Haji Alejandro dies at 70

MANILA, Philippines – OPM legend Haji Alejandro, best known for timeless hits like “Nakapagtataka” and “Panakip Butas”, has passed away at the age of 70.

His daughter, singer Rachel Alejandro, confirmed his death in a social media post on Monday, April 22. She described her father as someone who brought music and joy to countless lives.

Haji Alejandro rose to fame in the 1970s as the original “Kilabot ng Kolehiyala”, and was among the first champions of the Metro Manila Popular Music Festival. He was also a founding member of the influential music group APO Hiking Society before pursuing a successful solo career.
