Olongapo City – Former Senator Gringo Honasan attended the Grand Rally led by Pamilya Ko Partylist and Team Vegafria in Olongapo City where he was warmly received by an estimated 3,800 people attended at the Tapinac Oval Track.
Honasan shared his experience of 17-years as a soldier, 7-years as a rebel, 21-years as a Senator, and almost 3-years as DICT Secretary. He also told that he hid, was caught, ran away, was caught again, tried and acquitted.
Former President Ramos persuaded him to repent, and with the help of his brothers in RAM, Eagles, Guardians, he ran for senator while he was still a colonel. According to him, he was the first senator to win 4 times where Lord and the people decided, according to him.
In almost 50 years of his life serving the people, he said “I wish I could go home”. But how will he be able to go home if there are still poor people scavenging for food from the trash, if the majority of the population is still mired in poverty. “As long as there is something left, we still have to serve. My wounds I got from loving the Motherland and for my countrymen. Change, sacrifice, and public service are needed, so I don’t have to go home yet”, added Honasan.
He asked the youth not to repeat the mistakes of the elders, and should unite to promote health, education, and complete information for all.
Even the matter of the West Philippine Sea (WPS) he said should be fought for because of the law and the location that such ocean is ours.
In the end, Honasan called for real change and even sacrifice for the development of the country.
Team Vegafria, led by Mayoral Candidate Doc Arnold Vegafria, together with the aspirant City Councilors expressed their support for #31Honasan to return to the Senate.
