San Jose del Monte moves to cut PrimeWater deal

The San Jose del Monte City Water District (SJDMWD) has initiated steps to pre-terminate its joint venture agreement with Primewater Infrastructure Corp. (PWIC), a company owned by the Villar group, citing persistent service failures and unmet obligations.

The move escalates long-standing frustrations among residents and local officials over water supply issues and delayed infrastructure projects under the partnership.

In a related development, several local water districts in Pampanga are also considering the termination of their own joint venture deals with Primewater, citing similar complaints of poor service delivery and non-compliance with key project commitments.

The developments add to mounting scrutiny of public-private partnerships in the water sector, with calls for greater accountability and improved public service.
