Angeles City bolsters agri, fishery sectors support

ANGELES CITY—Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to uplifting the agriculture and fishery sectors by continuing the distribution of free fertilizers, seedlings, and agricultural equipment to local farmers and fisherfolk.

This initiative aligns with the city’s broader agenda to enhance food sustainability and empower local producers.

In support of these efforts, the Highly Urbanized City Agriculture and Fishery Council held its 4th Executive and Sectoral Committee Meeting on April 29 to assess ongoing programs and strategize future interventions aimed at preserving and developing Angeles City’s agricultural landscape.

City Agriculture Officer Rea Reyes, Ron Pineda, and officers from the Barangay Agriculture and Fishery Councils of Cutud, Mining, Sapalibutad, Cuayan, Margot, Anunas, Sapangbato, and Cutcut were in attendance.

Key points tackled during the meeting included solar-powered irrigation systems, expansion of farm-to-market roads, livestock development, continued implementation of the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program, and provision of manual knapsack sprayers to grassroots farmers.

Lazatin’s agriculture-focused initiatives are part of his administration’s inclusive growth plan to balance the city’s urbanization with support for food security and rural livelihoods.
