IBA, Zambales – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Zambales spearheaded a multi-sectoral forum focused on integrating innovation to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province.

The forum aligns with Republic Act No. 11293, otherwise known as the Philippine Innovation Act, which promotes innovation as a key strategy for sustainable national development.

DTI Provincial Director Enrique Tacbad emphasized the importance of collaboration in building an ecosystem that enables MSMEs to grow through access to technology, training, and institutional support.

“The forum on Integrating Innovation to Upscale MSMEs is a venue where stakeholders in the innovation industry join forces to enhance MSME presence in the business world,” Tacbad said.

He also announced that the FabLab, funded by the provincial government of Zambales and housed at the Polytechnic College of Botolan, is expected to be launched in June.

The facility will assist local enterprises in improving their packaging and labeling designs.

The forum gathered representatives from government agencies, academic institutions, cooperatives, and private sector partners to present innovation-driven solutions aimed at boosting MSME productivity and competitiveness.

Resource persons include the Department of Science and Technology, Polytechnic College of Botolan, President Ramon Magsaysay State University, Olongapo-Zambales Manufacturers Association Cooperative, and NORDE International Distributor.  (CLJD/RGP, PIA Region 3-Zambales)
