CABANATUAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a new one-story, two-classroom building at Talugtug East Central School in Talugtug, Nueva Ecija, providing much-needed space for students and teachers.
The project improves the learning environment by creating a safer, more comfortable space that addresses overcrowding and replaces makeshift classrooms previously used for classes.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 1st OIC-District Engineer Jun Vana said the 192.62-square-meter structure includes a toilet in each classroom, a corridor, a handwashing area, and a ramp with handrails for persons with disabilities.
Meanwhile, School Principal Xander Gapuz shared that the new classrooms will serve over 60 students in two sections, offering greater convenience and comfort than the previous temporary classrooms’ cramped and hot conditions.
“Napakalaking tulong na mabigyan kami ng isang building na may dalawang classroom para mas maganda ang learning environment ng mga bata. Nakikita ng mga magulang na malaking tulong talaga ang ayuda mula sa gobyerno, lalo na sa pagbibigay ng classroom o building para sa mga paaralan [It’s a big help for us to be given a building with two classrooms so that the learning environment for the children will be better. Parents see that the assistance from the government is really a big help, especially in providing classrooms or buildings for schools],” Gapuz said.
The P4.95-million project was funded under the Department of Education’s Basic Educational Facilities Fund through the 2024 national budget to support the school’s growing population and improve the quality of education in the area. (CLJD/MAECR, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
