With term ending, Mayor Lazatin inaugurates 8th Puso Center in Angeles City

ANGELES CITY — With just days left in office, Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. continues to fulfill his dedication to public health by opening the city’s 8th Puso Center Primary Care Facility in Barangay Capaya on June 17, 2025.

“Even as my term ends, my commitment to Angeleños’ health remains. Delivering essential services to our communities is a responsibility I’ve upheld to the very last day,” Lazatin said.

This latest facility marks the eighth of nine primary care centers promised by Mayor Lazatin during his 2024 State of the City Address. Additional centers have already been completed and inaugurated in Barangays Pulungbulu, Tabun, Pulung Maragul, Cutud, Malabanias, Anunas, and Amsic.

When Lazatin took office in 2019, the city government only had six Rural Health Units — located in Barangays Pandan, Sto. Domingo, Lourdes Sur East, Lourdes Northwest, Pulung Cacutud, and Balibago. Upon completion of the ninth Puso Center, Angeles City will boast a total of 15 fully functional primary care facilities.

The newly opened Puso Center in Capaya is equipped with a dental clinic, consultation and laboratory rooms, a physician’s office, storage facilities, a pantry, and a fully stocked pharmacy, ensuring residents have access to affordable and comprehensive healthcare within their community.

To further improve service delivery, the city government also hired additional doctors, dentists, pharmacists, and dental aides to enhance the efficiency and quality of health services offered to Angeleños.
