Sen. Bong Go backs National Academy of Sports growth

NEW CLARK CITY, Tarlac — Senator Bong Go expressed his unwavering support for the National Academy of Sports (NAS) as he visited its campus in New Clark City, underscoring the national government’s commitment to building a strong foundation for the future of Philippine sports.

Marking the institution’s fifth founding anniversary, the senator toured the NAS facilities and engaged with student-athletes, praising their dedication to balancing both academic and athletic excellence.

“Ang NAS ay mahalagang bahagi ng ating pangarap na makapag-produce ng world-class Filipino athletes. Narito ang gobyerno para suportahan kayo,” Go said in his message to the students.

He was welcomed by BCDA Vice President for Strategic Projects Management Randy Viacrusis and NAS Executive Director Josephine Reyes, who both emphasized the importance of sustained government support in realizing the academy’s long-term vision.

The visit also highlighted the collaboration between BCDA and NAS in transforming New Clark City into a premier training and education hub for young Filipino athletes—equipped with international-standard facilities and learning spaces.

Go, known for his advocacy for sports development and youth empowerment, reiterated his pledge to continue pushing for policies and programs that uplift grassroots and national-level athletes.

“Hindi lang po ito tungkol sa medals at kompetisyon. Ito ay tungkol sa pagbibigay ng pag-asa at kinabukasan sa ating kabataan,” he added.

The National Academy of Sports serves as a beacon for athletic and academic development, with the goal of nurturing the next generation of champions who will proudly represent the Philippines on the global stage.
