DSWD launches agroforestry program in Pampanga

FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), led by Secretary Rex Gatchalian and in partnership with Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda, officially launched the Agroforestry and Livelihood Program on Friday, July 11, in Barangay Nabuclod, Floridablanca.

Spearheaded by DSWD Field Office 3, the program is designed to support 200 Indigenous People (IP) households through a combination of Cash-for-Work and Food-for-Work initiatives. The launch highlights the government’s commitment to inclusive development and environmental sustainability.

Conducted in cooperation with various inter-agency stakeholders, the initiative aims to enhance the livelihoods of IP communities while promoting reforestation and sustainable farming practices.

“This program is not just about providing short-term aid,” said Secretary Gatchalian. “It’s about creating long-term opportunities that empower our Indigenous brothers and sisters to thrive in their own communities.”
