ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – First District Representative Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. visited Belen Homesite Elementary School in Barangay Sto. Cristo on July 31, 2025, to inspect its solar energy system and explore the possibility of installing additional solar panels.
The visit is part of Lazatin’s continuing push to expand renewable energy use in public schools. He announced plans to file a bill mandating the full transition of all public schools in the country to solar power, citing the success of Belen Homesite as a model.

Belen Homesite Elementary School, established as the first fully solar-powered public school in Central Luzon during Lazatin’s term as Angeles City mayor, currently operates with 32 kVA solar panels and serves around 189 students.

Even after stepping down as mayor, Lazatin remains highly visible in his district, regularly visiting communities and schools to ensure the delivery of basic services.
“Masaya po kami na palagi po kami binibisita ni Cong Pogi, kaya marami po sa amin na miss siya,” said Teacher Ana, noting the congressman’s consistent presence and support.

Lazatin’s advocacy for clean energy aligns with broader goals of sustainability, efficiency, and long-term cost savings for educational institutions.
