BALANGA CITY – Reinforcing their shared commitment to environmental protection, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Aboitiz Power Corporation reaffirmed their partnership for mangrove conservation by expanding the company’s adopted site in Orani, Bataan.
The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed with the provincial government of Bataan, municipal government of Orani, and the Tubo-tubo Fisherfolks Association.
DENR Regional Executive Director Ralph Pablo welcomed the renewed partnership, noting that it reflects a shared commitment to protect and restore coastal ecosystems, enhance local climate resilience, and promote sustainable livelihoods.
The MOA marks the expansion of Aboitiz Power’s adopted area under the Tubo-Tubo Island Mangrove Conservation Project.
Since 2023, Aboitiz Power has been actively supporting the rehabilitation and protection of a 10-hectare mangrove site at Sitio Pulo, Barangay Kabalutan under the DENR’s Project Transdisciplinary Approach for Resilience and Environmental Sustainability through Multi-stakeholder Engagement (TRANSFORM).
Through the latest agreement, the company’s adopted site has now doubled to 20 hectares, further strengthening efforts to restore and safeguard vital coastal ecosystems.
Part of Project TRANSFORM Baka1Bataan, this initiative demonstrates how government, private sector, and community partners can unite to drive inclusive and science-based environmental action. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
