ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – Former Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has been recognized as one of the mayors who exemplified good governance during his term in office, earning distinction for his leadership and reforms that elevated public service in the city.
Lazatin, who now serves his first term as representative of Pampanga’s first district, was a multi-awarded local chief executive during his six-year stint as mayor. His administration was lauded for programs that strengthened transparency, improved basic services, and expanded social welfare initiatives, making Angeles City a model for responsive and people-centered governance.

In a statement, the Mayors for Good Governance (M4GG) commended Lazatin and his fellow alumni for their service from 2022 to 2025. “Their dedication to service ignited a flame that continues to fuel our advocacy for transparent, responsible, and compassionate governance,” M4GG said. “Through every challenge, their support strengthened our resolve to push forward.”

The group added that the initiatives of its alumni opened opportunities for better public service and gave Filipinos renewed faith in ethical governance. “The seeds of change planted during their tenure are expected to bear fruit for future generations,” M4GG noted.
As he embarks on his first term in Congress, supporters expect Lazatin to carry forward the same brand of leadership that defined his mayoralty, further cementing his reputation as one of Pampanga’s most prominent leaders of his generation.
