Protest rally vs corruption called by Bayan Muna

Former Bayan Muna Representative Teddy Casiño has called on Filipinos to take their anger over corruption, substandard projects, and poor public services to the streets in a united protest rally.

In a statement posted online, Casiño said the action is meant for those “sawa at galit na sa pagnanakaw ng mga korap na pulitiko at opisyal” and frustrated taxpayers who receive little in return for what they pay the government.

“This is a challenge, not an invitation,” he said, stressing that only by showing “warm bodies” on the streets will officials take anti-corruption campaigns seriously.

Casiño urged citizens of all political leanings—“dilawan, pulahan, pinklawan, kaliwa, gitna o kanan”—to join the rally on a Sunday, so work schedules will not be an excuse for non-attendance.

“Punta tayo para magparamdam ng galit. Punta tayo para ipaglaban ang tama,” he said.

Details on the date, time, and venue of the rally have yet to be announced.
