
MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – The 127th anniversary of the historic Malolos Congress was commemorated on Monday, September 15, at the Barasoain Church, the cradle of the First Philippine Republic.
With the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan,” the celebration highlighted the legacy of the 1898 assembly that drafted the Malolos Constitution, laying the foundation of Filipino nationhood.

Police Regional Office 3 director PBGEN Ponce Rogelio I. Peñones Jr. joined Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando and Bulacan Police Provincial Office director PCOL Angel Garcillano in paying tribute to the country’s forefathers.

“As we honor the Malolos Congress, we are reminded that freedom is not only a gift but a responsibility—one that we must safeguard through discipline, integrity, and service to the people,” Peñones said in his message.

Governor Fernando also underscored the importance of remembering the sacrifices of the nation’s heroes, stressing that the spirit of Malolos should inspire present and future generations to uphold democracy and national unity.

The Malolos Congress, convened on September 15, 1898, remains a milestone in Philippine history as the first revolutionary congress that enshrined the ideals of independence and self-governance. PIA PHOTOS
