Philippine Air Force joins multilateral maritime drills

MANILA — The Philippine Air Force took part in the 11th Multilateral Maritime Cooperative Activity (MMCA) over the West Philippine Sea from September 12 to 13, alongside the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force and the United States Indo-Pacific Command.

The exercise, which featured four FA-50PH fighter jets and a Sokol helicopter, was held to enhance interoperability and strengthen coordination among the three forces.

By joining the two-day drills, the Philippine Air Force underscored its commitment to maintaining operational readiness and to supporting the Armed Forces of the Philippines in safeguarding the country’s territorial integrity. Officials said the engagement also signaled Manila’s intent to contribute to a “free, secure and stable” Indo-Pacific region amid heightened tensions in disputed waters.
