Tai Yang 1 Power Inc. brings 25-megawatt solar project to the FAB

Mariveles, Bataan- Renewable energy continues to gain ground in the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB), as the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) partners with Tai Yang 1 Power Inc. for the construction of a 25-megawatt solar power facility inside the Freeport.

The development will rise on a 27-hectare property and is among the largest renewable energy developments within the FAB to date. Once operational, the facility is expected to supply additional power to meet the Freeport’s growing demand and support AFAB’s transition toward more reliable and sustainable energy sources.

AFAB Administrator and CEO Hussein Pangandaman said the project supports the Authority’s direction to diversify energy generation as it continues to attract more industries and investments.

Tai Yang 1 Power Inc., led by its President Vic O. Lacaya III has already secured a business license from AFAB and is completing its application as a registered enterprise, allowing it to begin preparations for development within the Freeport.

The said solar project also appears in the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program (GEA-4), where it holds an accepted capacity offer of 16.5 megawatts (MW). The figure represents the portion of energy the facility will supply to the national grid once operations begin, as part of DOE’s ongoing program to expand renewable generation nationwide.

Tai Yang 1 Power Inc. is no stranger to AFAB’s sustainability initiatives. It previously participated as one of the proponents of the solar roofing project within FAB’s industrial area under Citicore Solar Bataan, Inc., supporting AFAB’s goal to integrate more renewable systems into its industrial and commercial infrastructure.
