ANGELES CITY — Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan has vowed to make this city drug-free.
Pamintuan made the statement during his inauguration rites on June 30 at the MarQuee Mall Event Center in Angeles City.
“At bilang tugon ko sa panawagan ng mamamayan para sa pagbabago, at kontribusyon ko sa ikatatagumpay ng administrasyong Duterte, gagawin natin ang Angeles City bilang huwarang syudad, kung saan mahigpit ang pagpapatupad ng batas lalo na sa krimen at droga, gagawin nating zero-drug ang ating mga lansangan at komunidad at ibababa ang insidente ng krimen,” Pamintuan said in his inaugural speech.
Recently, a shabu laboratory had been found by city police in a subdivision in the city.
Apart from being zero-drug, the mayor also promised zero tolerance on corruption and zero red tape in providing public services.
His administration has been known for the establishment of pro-poor programs and projects including the City College of Angeles and the improvement of the Ospital Ning Angeles complete with a dialysis center and a heart care unit.
For the next three years, Pamintuan vowed to complete a state-of-the-art command center for monitoring crime and traffic, a public cemetery for the poor featuring a crematorium and columbarium, and additional social services to supplement those already existing.
Pamintuan is the only five-term mayor of Angeles City, serving in 1992-1995, 1995-1998, 2010-2013, 2013-2016 and now 2016-2019. He is now on his last term.
