ANGELES CITY — Dr. Amando L. Garcia Medical Center, Inc., a private medical institution in Angeles City made a medical milestone on Saturday, March 7, 2026, by successfully performing its first Transoral Endoscopic Thyroidectomy Vestibular Approach (TOETVA).
The high-tech procedure, often referred to as “scarless” thyroid surgery, was conducted by a specialized surgical team led by ENT surgeon Dr. Lawrence Maliwat, assisted by Dr. John Lingad, and anesthesiologist Dr. Jeremy Halili.
Unlike traditional methods that leave visible incisions on the neck, the TOETVA technique accesses the thyroid through the mouth. This minimally invasive approach offers several clinical advantages, including zero visible scarring, reduced recovery time, and minimized post-operative pain.
