BIR RAID IN PAMPANGA AVERTS P93.7M TAX LOSSES

APALIT, Pampanga — Authorities raided a warehouse in Barangay Balucuc, Apalit, Pampanga, uncovering cigarette manufacturing materials and preventing an estimated P93.77 million in potential unpaid excise taxes.

The operation, conducted on March 5 and 6, was led by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in coordination with the Bureau of Customs (BOC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

The warehouse, located inside the Golden Haojia Industrial Compound, was found to contain large volumes of materials used for illicit cigarette production.

BIR Commissioner Charlito Mendoza said the raid reflects the agency’s intensified campaign against the illegal tobacco trade to protect government revenues.

The operation forms part of the administration’s broader push to strengthen enforcement against illicit trade. IORBITNEWS/ CONTRIBUTED PHOTOS
