In line with the celebration of Labor Day, the City Government of San Fernando in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment conducted a Job Fair on May 1 at the SM City San Fernando Dowtown.
Themed “Matatag na Kabuhayan at Trabaho, Tungo sa Progresibong Pagbabago,” more than 400 job vacancies were opened by sixteen (16) companies who participated in the job fair.
Arlene Tolentino, Chief of Dole Field Office, said the aim of this job fair is to help every Fernandino who are still jobless and further increase the employment rate of the city.
“This activity is open to everyone, we want to provide them decent jobs to improve their quality of life,” Tolentino added.
DOLE Pampanga Field Office also reported that 61 applicants were hired on the spot.
In his speech, Mayor Edwin Santiago shared his experiences when he started as an employee. He also encouraged the Fernandinos to work hard for them to have a brighter future.
“Finding a job is not an easy thing to do, you have to be determined in finding your right track. I am encouraging you to become better employees to be the assets of your companies,” Santiago added.
The city mayor furthered “You can apply your skills and learnings and become productive Fernandinos that will cater to the needs of the city thus making it exemplary to the others.”
Employment is among the top priority of the Santiago administration for he believes that creating livelihood opportunities for everyone can help face life with dignity and responsibility.
